The in-engine cinemas betray the game's first-gen origins, being extremely primitive in execution. A lot of time is spent roaming around looking for the next action level, or watching a drawn-out cinema scene which interferes with the rhythm of the game. All of the disparate levels are tied together through several "Adventure Fields," sprawling maps that act as hubs. Sonic Adventure was and is a weirdly structured game. It seems he's got a dastardly new scheme in the works, and only through a powerful alliance of five furry animals and one robot can he be defeated. Together, they fight to save the strange city of Station Square from the insane plans of Sonic's eternal nemesis, Dr. Each character has a unique style of gameplay - Sonic gets to places as fast as possible, Knuckles hunts hidden fragments of Chaos Emeralds, and Big the Cat.
